Gerry Chiniquy working on Raggedy Ann and Andy in the 1970s

Gerry Chiniquy (1912-1989) was an animator known for his work on Looney Tunes shorts. He was an animation director on the first three seasons of Muppet Babies, as well as Little Muppet Monsters. He shared in the Daytime Emmy Award which Muppet Babies received in 1987 for Outstanding Animated Program.

Chiniquy was part of Friz Freleng's animation unit as early as 1940 (when he appeared in a cameo as the director in the Porky Pig short You Oughta Be in Pictures). He began receiving screen credit in 1943, contributing to several World War II propaganda cartoons, as well as Hare Trigger (Yosemite Sam's debut), many Tweety and Speedy Gonzales shorts, and Three Little Bops (narrated by Stan Freberg). While still at Warner, he contributed to cameos by Bugs Bunny in the live-action features Two Guys from Texas and My Dream Is Yours and worked on the animated portions of The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

Chiniquy worked on the Hanna-Barbera feature Hey There, It's Yogi Bear and later animated King Koo-Koo in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Most of his work by this point, however, was as a director for Freleng's studio DePatie-Freleng, on The Pink Panther and The Inspector shorts and others, What's New, Mr. Magoo?, Bugs Bunny compilation specials, and Spider-Woman. When DePatie-Freleng became Marvel Productions, he stayed on and directed My Little Pony projects, Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. Joe, and The Transformers.
