Zoe's rainbow tutu from Aunt Giselle
Giselle is a classic French ballet first performed in 1841. The tragic romance follows the star-crossed love of the titular peasant girl and the nobleman Albrecht. She remains true even after her death from heartbreak (a common malady in ballet and opera), as she saves her lover from vengeful ghosts.
Notable lead performers over the years have included Rudolf Nureyev (as Albrecht in a 1962 production) and Cynthia Gregory (playing the title role in the seventies and eighties).
