Gloria Globe is an embodiment of the Earth in animated segments on Sesame Street. Designed primarily to teach geography, most segments opened with Gloria Globe attempting to pull a rabbit out of her hat, but instead yanking an animal indigenous to a specific country.
One installment departed from the usual format, however. Instead of a cheerful magician, Gloria appears sick and ailing, because of pollution and damage to the planet. Only by taking better care of the Earth can Gloria become well again. Another installment had Gloria Globe singing a song about the continents of the earth (Such as, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America) .
