Grit was an American weekly newspaper (now a magazine) that was founded in 1882, and aimed primarily at small-town and rural readers. Calling itself "America's Greatest Family Newspaper," the publication focused on positive news that encouraged its readers to live peaceful, contented lives.
The Muppets appeared in Grit twice:
- April 30, 1972: "The Muppets of Sesame Street: Inside Story on Popular TV Puppets", illustrated on the cover with a picture of Big Bird, Ernie and Bert.
- August 26, 1979: "The Magic of the Muppets: Entire Cast Now Featured in New Movie", illustrated on the cover with a portrait of Miss Piggy.
