At the Alphabet Memorial Hospital, Dr. Grover is in charge of a pair of medical students. Suddenly, a paramedic wheels in a letter A on a gurney; he's been split into three pieces following an accident involving an amateur acrobat. Dr. Grover and his students wheel the letter into the operating room for surgery. With a variety of A-word items (including an artichoke to snack on), Dr. Grover feels he's successful, but he hasn't managed to piece the letter together correctly.
As the letter A annoys Dr. Grover by pointing out various A words in his speech, the doctor gives it another try, rendering the A still out of alignment. Dr. Grover decides to study the "A's anatomy" using the letter A skeleton. While observing the lines and angles, one of his students manages to put the A correctly back together. The A hops off, and Dr. Grover naturally takes credit for the operation and believes he's a positive influence on his students (despite not knowing what "agglutination" means).
