"Guantanamera" is a traditional Cuban song. In the United States, Pete Seeger adapted and recorded it in 1963, and the Sandpipers used the Seeger arrangement for a 1966 hit single. Celia Cruz also recorded a single in 1968.
Seeger sang Guantanamera on Sesame Street in Episode 0048 and again in Episode 0741. He also performed it on the 1974 album Pete Seeger & Brother Kirk Visit Sesame Street.
In Episode 2174, Gladys the Cow briefly sings the song to herself as she enters Hooper's Store.
