Guy Lombardo

Guy Lombardo (b. Gaetano Alberto Lombardo, 1902-1977) was a Canadian bandleader. Lombardo, along with his brothers, formed the band The Royal Canadians, and their cover of "Auld Lang Syne" has become tradition on New Year's Eve. The version still plays as the first song of the new year in New York City's Times Square.

• At the end of the "House of Horrors" sketch of episode 119 of The Muppet Show, Uncle Deadly says of guest star Vincent Price, "On New Year's Eve, the Master turns into Guy Lombardo!" The line was subsequently redubbed to "Jack Parnell" instead.

• The Sesame Street character Jascha Lombardi's last name is a nod to Lombardo.
