"Højt fra træets grønne top" ("High from the green tree top") is an old Danish Christmas song. Originally, it was a poem written by Peter Faber about his family for Christmas 1847. At that time it had 6 verses, all including members of the Faber family. The next year, Faber teamed up with Emil Horneman and they added two more verses and wrote new music for the song. It was then published in "Sang for Børn" in 1848.
