"Hang On Sloopy" is a #1 hit single for the McCoys in 1964, originally recorded (under the title "My Girl Sloopy") by the Vibrations and soon after, James Henry & The Olympics.

The McCoy's recording (though sped up) was used in Rowlf the Dog's segment on The Jimmy Dean Show in the March 4, 1966 broadcast. The song is initially used at the beginning of the sketch, played from Rowlf's jukebox as he plans on opening his own discotheque. He plays another sample later in the scene for Jimmy Dean, claiming the recording is actually named "You're Makin' Me Nauseous" by the Four Caterpillars.
