Sesame Street Elmo's Debut

"Happy Tappin' with Elmo" is a Sesame Street song from Episode 2832. Elmo is waiting for Savion to start tap dance class, and he decides to make believe he's a professional tap dancer. Elmo envisions himself showing his skills on a stairway (seen in full-body via chroma key) and invites the viewer to join him in a peppy tap dancing session.

The song is a nod to Fred Astaire's performance of Irving Berlin's "Puttin' on the Ritz" in the 1946 film Blue Skies.

The original script titles the segment "Elmo's Debut,"[1] a title that carried over to Sesame Street’s official YouTube upload of the segment. The title refers to Elmo's imaginary debut as a world-famous tap dancer, not his actual debut as a character.
