Harriettubman

Harriet Tubman (ca. 1822-1913) was a key figure in the Underground Railroad in the years prior to the Civil War, as a "conductor" aiding slaves to escape as she had. When war broke out, she served the Union Army as a spy and scout. Post-war, with abolition accomplished, Tubman spoke in support of women's suffrage.
