"He Lost His Duckie" is a Sesame Street song performed by José Carreras.

In a short opera, sung to "Vesti la giubba" from Pagliacci, Ernie plays a a sad little boy who's lost his Rubber Duckie. Soon, Carreras finds himself so wrapped up in his song, he starts crying too, until Ernie reminds him it's all pretend and shares Rubber Duckie with him.

Notes

  • The song is alternatively registered on BMI as "Ernie's Unhappy."[1]
  • The segment was pulled from airing not long after it first appeared, as the creative team felt Carreras' singing vocals made the lyrics incomprehensible.[2]
