Herb Duncan is a voice actor who was heard in several animated Sesame Street inserts. He worked most often in the spots by Tom Gabbay, including "L- Is Large," "Z- Is Space," "- Is Nine," and "Going Up."[1]
Duncan began his career on radio, first as a juvenile actor on the soap opera Ma Perkins and then in the 1960s in episodic roles on late era remaining New York dramas Suspense, Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, and The Eternal Light. He did commercial voice-overs and was prolific on children's records. He did Hanna-Barbera sound alikes for the albums Huckleberry Hound for President and The Jetsons: New Songs of the TV Family of the Future (as George and Elroy), and other kids records featured King Features comics characters (including Beetle Bailey and Krazy Kat), The Hardy Boys, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
For Mad Magazine, Duncan did the 1973 record Gall in the Family Fair (with Allen Swift and Pat Bright) and The Mad Magazine TV Special. He voiced Muggy Doo on Milton the Monster, was heard in the Rankin/Bass special The Ballad of Smokey the Bear and later on the Disney version of Doug, and did dubbing including the anime feature Gulliver's Travels on the Moon. He narrated audio books (including Serpico) and documentaries.
