Hikayat Simsim was the Arabic name for the Palestinian Sesame Street co-production, as part of the Sesame Stories series of simultaneous but individual Sesame co-productions in the Middle East. The series shared the same name as the Jordanian production, and both translated to Sesame Stories.
The main characters were Kareem and Haneen, both hold-overs from the previous Israeli-Palestinian collaboration Rechov Sumsum — Shara'a Simsim. The series entered production in 2002. In 2007, the series was revamped, beyond the Muppet only skits, and renamed, Shara'a Simsim, reflecting the original Arabic title from the 1990s.
