Hollywood Canteen, a 1944 film, was one of several all-star cast movies from World War II, stringing together a variety of acts with a loose narrative to promote home front morale and reinforce the role of the American soldier. The title is taken from the actual Hollywood Canteen for servicemen, founded by Bette Davis and John Garfield. While the story involves two G.I.s visiting the canteen, it primarily serves to connect celebrity acts and cameos, including The Andrews Sisters, Jack Benny, Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet, Barbara Stanwyck, and the Sons of the Pioneers.
While written for an earlier unproduced film, the song "Don't Fence Me In" made its cinematic debut in the movie, performed by Roy Rogers.
