Hopalong Froggy
Hopalong Cassidy was one of the earliest television Westerns, initially debuting in 1949 with edited down versions of the long-running theatrical film series (66 movies from 1935 to 1948). Loosely based on a print cowboy hero created by Clarence E. Mulford, Cassidy was portrayed by William Boyd for the entire run, and in supplemental half hour TV episodes produced between 1952 and 1954. The TV airings launched a craze leading to everything from comic books and records to replicas of Hopalong's cowboy garb to be worn by children.
