Horst Schön in Casablanca Express in 1989

Horst Schön (1925-2020) was a German voice actor who was the second voice of Bert on Sesamstrasse from approximately 1986 until roughly 1996, and also dubbed him in Die Muppets feiern Weihnacht (A Muppet Family Christmas). Schön dubbed Baxter in Die Muppets unterm Weihnachtsbaum (Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree).

On television, Schön made multiple appearances in the Berlin installments of Tatort (including three as Stegmüller, supervising lead kommissar Bülow) and recurred on Der Landarzt (The Country Doctor) as the police commissioner. In the 1980s, he appeared in two German-Italian-American co-productions, the action movies Thunder III and Casablanca Express (with Glenn Ford).

Schön was the primary German voice of Leslie Nielsen (including The Naked Gun movies, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and Mr. Magoo) and Spencer Tracy and frequently dubbed Rock Hudson, Richard Burton, and Marcello Mastroianni. He dubbed James Earl Jones three times, Jackie Cooper in Superman III, Martin Landau in Meteor, Ed McMahon in The Last Remake of Beau Geste, Peter O'Toole in Troy, and Clive Revill in Charlie Muffin. TV dubbing included James Arness on Gunsmoke, Edward Woodward on The Equalizer, Mason Adams on Lou Grant, and multiple guest stars on crime shows like Kojak and Magnum, P.I.

Animation dubbing includes Calimero (voice directed by Eberhard Storeck, as Gia) and the French animated features Fantastic Planet and Time Masters.
