Howard Stern (b. 1954) is a radio personality, most famous for his outspoken views and controversial shows.

During his stint as a judge on America's Got Talent, Stern interacted with Statler and Waldorf during the September 10, 2014 episode in season 9. After the gentlemen note that they like him for being rude, insulting, and outrageous, Stern expresses jealousy for having hands up their pants. Statler responds, "When you get to be our age, it's a regular occurrence." Stern admits that he prefers talking to puppets over his co-judges, to which Statler and Waldorf promise to let him join them for some heckling next week. "I love those guys; they're good dudes," Stern concedes.

Stern was interested in radio from age 5, but sought a career in puppetry early on. "I was very interested in puppetry when I was a child," Stern said on his radio show on September 9, 2009, explaining that as a kid, he had even enrolled in a program to learn how to build puppets. While in this puppet building course, an instructor recognized his talent, and sought him to be a part of a puppetry troupe that would travel the country. Stern was overjoyed at the notion and considered the opportunity to be his "break." Unfortunately, the funding dried up, and the show never took off.

Upon leaving Boston University, Stern was still unsure of what to do with his life, and while radio was an option, puppetry was still his original dream. He then sent a letter to Jim Henson, who Stern claimed responded. To Stern's dismay, he humorously claimed Henson said, "Who's looking for you?" in a manner of not being very impressed with Stern's resume, to which Stern sadly agreed. Regardless, Stern was grateful for Henson to even reply at all. Stern did feel the only thing that separated him from Henson's hand-picked puppeteers, was that they "wrote [Henson] first."
