"I Am a Letter" is a song and film sequence produced for the first season of Sesame Street.
Two male vocalists (who can also be heard in "Hey Cow" and "Fireman Ready to Go") musically describe the process of how mail gets sent from one place to another, all from the perspective of the mail itself. The corresponding film footage is seen from the mail's point of view as well as it gets placed into a mailbox, loaded onto conveyor belts, and shipped on a plane.
The song would be used on Sesame Street until season 6, in which the accompanying film would be shortened and include a new song about mail travel.
