"I Got Me a Rooster" is sung in turn by several characters on the 1982 album Sesame Street Sing-Along! beginning with Susan. The song involves saying the name of an animal (fed by the green willow tree) and stating the sound it makes. Bob, Big Bird, and Ernie follow, but Bert's suggestion of a giraffe complicates things.
The song was performed in Episode 1808 of Sesame Street the following year, with Oscar the Grouch throwing in the giraffe to mess with everyone.
The song is derived from a traditional folk round under many different names (with verb or animal in title varying) but most often as "Farmyard Song" or "Barnyard Song." This version was performed by Pete Seeger in Episode 0048, drawing pictures of each animal for the kids to sing along with. He performed it and illustrated again in Episode 2328.
