"I Heard My Dog Bark" is a Sesame Street song about somebody who gets up in the middle of the night to get something to eat. But he knocks over a big pot in the kitchen, which makes his dog start to bark, his cat start to meow, his horse start to neigh, his lion start to roar, and his bee start to buzz. He finally puts them all to bed, but his pet mouse knocks over the pot, and it starts all over again.
Originally, this song was performed by Gordon singing the main body, assisted by Bob, Susan, Uncle Wally, and the kids. It was later sung by Oscar in the video Quiet Time, Alan in a season 32 episode, and by Ernie in a season 37 segment (which cut out the bee). The storyline was adapted into Episode 3495 in the form of a book called As I Lay Sleeping, read by Maria.
