"I Remember" is a Sesame Street song performed by Solange Knowles with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Grover and Zoe. The song is based on the 1972 animated segment, "I Can Remember." The segment was directed by Matt Vogel.
The song posits that Solange was the young girl featured in the cartoon, as she sings about how she remembered the names of the groceries. The song features new animated sequences and effects based directly on Jim Simon's work, while also incorporating visuals from the original cartoon. The Two-Headed Monster and Mr. Hooper are depicted in the new animated sections.
The song was originally recorded as an insert for season 49, announced to air as a part of Episode 4931,[1] but was not featured in the episode or any other episode that season. It was released later that year on the 50 Years and Counting DVD and was incorporated into the prime time special, Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration (but omitted from the home video version).
