I Remember Mama is a 1944 stage play centering on a close-knit family of Norwegian immigrants, adapted from the 1943 novel Mama's Back Account. The original Broadway production, while a straight play, was mounted by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and the cast included Marlon Brando as son Nels. A film version was released in 1948, and the play also spawned an early TV series (1949-1957) and a 1979 musical version.
