"If You Can't Remember, Write It" (also known as "Write it Down")[1] is a Sesame Street song first appearing in Episode 2295.

Forgetful Jones stands alone in the yard, explaining to the viewer how he's tired of forgetting things. He tries to list some of the methods he intends to employ to help his failing mind, but temporarily can't come up with them. During his series of memory lapses, all the light on Sesame Street goes dim and Maria, Gordon, and Luis enter in spotlights, dressed in vaudeville-type suits, hats, and canes. Forgetful remains oblivious as the cast sings about how writing something down can help you remember just about anything, from a girlfriend's name to finding where you left your horse. Once they exit Forgetful acts as if nothing has happened, though he is able to remember other methods besides writing to help him.

At the song's end, Maria, Gordon, and Luis return to their regular street clothes and hint to see if their message got through to Forgetful. It did, but he can't recall how he came up with the idea.
