"In the Summertime" was written by Roger Miller, who had one of his earliest hits with the song in 1960 under the alternate title "You Don't Want My Love." The song's legal title, however, is "In the Summertime," and it was a hit under that name for Andy Williams.
"In the Summertime" was first performed on The Muppet Show in episode 123 by the Country Trio. Miller later performed the song with some watermelons on episode 321.
