The International Society for Music Education World Conference is an annual event, organized by the International Society for Music Education (ISME), first held in 1979 and dedicated to promoting music education world-wide. Like the Olympic Games, the gathering is held in a different host country each time.
The 27th annual event took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in July 2006. Elmo and Rosita were special guests, sharing the spotlight with Nori Abdullah (daughter of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) to discuss music education. During the course of the conference, the characters also visited a primary school in Pandfra Jaik, on the outskirts of Kuala Lampur; Elmo donned a Muslim hat for the occasion.
