IslandHeads
DEBUT 1996

The Island Heads are a group of talking sculptures in Muppet Treasure Island. The heads, which resemble pigs, bear a passing resemblance to the Easter Island stone statues, but a 1995 script draft refers to them as carved tiki poles (and tree bark lines are visible). They are scattered around Treasure Island and are most prominent performing "Shiver My Timbers" in the opening.

In the film's epilogue, one of the heads, Shecky the Tiki cracks jokes to a marooned Long John Silver ("Why does the ocean roar? Give up? You would too if you had crabs on your bottom and oysters in your bed.")

One of the island heads is part of the Center for Puppetry Arts collection and was on display during 2020.
