Synopsis[]
Granny Bird and Big Bird are enjoying the first day of Spring when they come across Abby Cadabby and her mom who are organizing a swap meet. Maggie asks Granny if she can make some of her delicious brownies and cookies; Granny offers to also prepare some bird seed smoothies for the occasion.
The Birds next encounter Ernie and Bert, inviting them to participate in the swap meet. Big Bird and Bert explain to Ernie what a swap meet is, and Bert gets excited to dig into his belongings at home to rediscover some old treasures.
Back at their apartment, Bert gets some help from Bernice and decides he'll swap his binoculars and a baseball cap. Ernie takes Rubber Duckie with him to the bedroom where he finds a number of items under his bed that he'd forgotten about.
When he pulls out his roller skates, he flashes back to the birthday where Bert gifted them to him. In his memory, Rosita and Grover cheer Ernie on while he learns how to roller skate. After some effort, he eventually picks it up like a pro.
Back in the present, Ernie admits to Bert that it's tough to get rid of the things that he has associated memories with. Bert points out that he has not used some of his old stuff in a long time and asks him to consider the joy they would bring someone else. After seeing how excited Baby Bear gets over Abby's old moon night light, Ernie rushes back home.
When he returns, he explains to Gabrielle that he used to love skating in his old roller skates, but admits that they would be so much cooler if they belonged to her. He also gives Elmo a pair of his old sunglasses, while Bert and Freddy swap books about pianos around the world and oatmeal recipes.
A few weeks later, Ernie observes Gabrielle skating around Sesame Street on her new skates, feeling a sense of pride in passing them along to her.
