• In a season 22 episode of Sesame Street, Big Bird, not having been invited to Bob's party, imagines what it will be like. He pictures the grown-ups playing musical chairs, and Bob is the first eliminated. He sobs, while everyone tells him "it's his party and he'll cry if he wants to."

• In a Super Grover 2.0, Grover tries to help a duckling get to a woodland party across a stream. When all hope seems lost, she starts sobbing. Grover consoles her, indirectly quoting the title lyric.
