"It's a Sin to Tell a Lie" is a song written by Billy Mayhew that was since covered by such artists as Tony Bennett, Bobby Vinton and Billie Holiday.
Rowlf the Dog and Jimmy Dean sang the song, with some revised lyrics, on The Jimmy Dean Show’s March 5, 1964 episode.
Prior to that duet, a recording of the song by Somethin' Smith and the Redheads was used as lip-syncing material for Sam and Friends in 1955.[1]
