
James Peale (ca. 1749 - 1831) was an American painter whose best-known pieces were often miniature and still life paintings.

- Peale's still life Balsam Apple and Vegetable was featured in the opening credits of Don't Eat the Pictures. Cookie Monster, using a Metropolitan Museum of Art "Food Art" guide, happens by the painting and calls it delicious.
