Jean-Claude Van Damme (b. 1960) is a Belgian actor who parlayed his martial arts skills into action movie stardom, beginning with 1988's Bloodsport. Other films include the Kickboxer and Universal Soldier series, Cyborg, Double Impact (playing twins), The Quest, and Street Fighter (with Raúl Juliá). He often wrote the basic story or screenplay to his films and directed or choreographed his own fight scenes on various occasions.
In later years, Van Damme frequently spoofed or played with his own image, as in the 2008 film JCVD, The Expendables 2, and the Amazon Prime series Jean-Claude Van Johnson. In 2010, he was mentioned in Disney press announcements as a cameo actor in the then-upcoming film The Muppets,[1] but it ultimately did not happen.
