Jeanie Bennett is a singer who voiced Polly Darton in her earliest Sesame Street appearances, including "Wavin' Goodbye to You with My Heart," "I'm Under the Weather Over You," and "Counting One to Five."
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bennett moved to France in 1969 to perform in a production of Hair. She had an active career on French records and made occasional TV appearances. By the mid-1970s, Bennett had joined bandleader Lionel Hampton as vocalist and returned to the states. She performed cabaret in New York City in the 1980s.
