Jeremy Irons (b. 1948) appeared in the 1988 Sesame Street Special as one of the celebrities in the "Put Down the Duckie" segment.
Irons also appeared in an additional segment for Sesame Street, that was ultimately unused. According to a press release, "Big Bird pretends to be a famous talk show host and interviews a person on the street, who happens to be Jeremy Irons."
His film credits include Lolita, Die Hard with a Vengeance, the remake of The Time Machine, and as the voice of Scar in Disney's The Lion King. He won the 1990 Academy Award as Best Actor for his performance as Claus von Bulow in Reversal of Fortune, costarring Glenn Close. His television credits include The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes, Comic Relief in 2003 playing Severus Snape, Elizabeth I (with Helen Mirren), two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a season 23 episode of The Simpsons, and a main character in HBO's Watchmen.
