Dr. Jill Biden (b. 1951) is the wife of the forty-sixth President of the United States Joe Biden. Dr. Biden, along with her husband, were honored at the 2010 Sesame Workshop Benefit Gala. She previously served as the 37th Second Lady under Michelle Obama.
In 2011, Dr. Biden and First Lady Michelle Obama appeared alongside Elmo and Rosita in a series of public service announcements promoting support to military families.
She later appeared in the 2021 Sesame Street special, 50 Years of Sunny Days, talking with Rosita via video chat. The two appeared in a segment about being upstanders.[1]
On February 16, 2022, Dr. Biden visited the set of Sesame Street (appearing with a detail of Sheep-ret Service agents). Elmo later Tweeted a photo of himself with Biden and his dog Tango, stating: "Elmo had such a great time with @FLOTUS and Elmo’s puppy Tango today! Elmo thinks we should have a doggy play-date with you and Commander someday!"[2] Biden retweeted from the official @FLOTUS account and replied, "Thank you for welcoming me to the neighborhood, Elmo! Commander and I are ready for a game of fetch on the South Lawn anytime!"[3] A "Word of the Day" web video with Biden talking about the word "kindness" was released in March 2022. She appeared in a segment with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Tamir teaching them about different types of jobs. (First: Episode 5305)
