In July 2010, publishing news blog Galleycat reported that author Brian Jay Jones had sold a biography of Jim Henson to Ballantine Books. Jones will be working on the as-yet-untitled project with the blessing of the Henson family and the Jim Henson Legacy. According to the press release, the book will cover Henson's professional career, but does not mention how much of his personal life will be featured.[1] The biography will be published by Random House/Ballantine, a late 2012 release date is tentatively scheduled.[2]
From 2010 to 2012, Jones spent time browsing through the Henson Archives with the assistance of Karen Falk.[3]
Jones plans to deliver the first draft manuscript to his editor in May 2012.[4]
Jones has previously published a biography of Washington Irving in 2008.
