Jim James is the frontman, lead guitarist, producer, and primary songwriter of the rock group My Morning Jacket.
The band recorded "Our World," a song from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, for the Disney cover album The Green Album, released in 2011.
During production of Disney's film The Muppets, My Morning Jacket were recruited to write and record new songs for a proposed tour, performing under the guise of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, but the idea was ultimately abandoned.[1] Among the compositions James had written for the project were "Out of My System" and "Wonderful," which were repurposed for the band's 2011 album Circuital. James also recorded a rejected demo version of "Man or Muppet" that was described by music supervisor Bret McKenzie as "incredibly mellow."[2]
James sang "Rainbow Connection" with Kermit the Frog at a live performance at the Newport Folk Festival on July 28, 2019. Animal joined My Morning Jacket at the festival in 2023.
