John Lithgow (b. 1945) is an actor who has appeared in numerous films, including The World According to Garp, Footloose, and Terms of Endearment. He starred on the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. Lithgow provided narration for the 2005 audio version of It's Not Easy Being Green, offering a simulation of Jim Henson's soft-spoken delivery.
Lithgow has performed on Broadway frequently since the 1970s. He's been nominated for Tony Awards multiple times and is a two-time winner: for the 1973 play The Changing Room (Best Featured Actor) and the 2002 musical Sweet Smell of Success (Best Actor in a Musical). He played Yoda in the NPR radio adaptations of The Empire Strikes Back (1983) and Return of the Jedi (1996). He has authored several children's books.
