Jon Newton, full name Jonathan Brooks Newton, is a composer who wrote songs for the Cecille segments on Sesame Street, including "The Game of Make Believe" and "Brushin' Down the Doggies." He also wrote another animated song for the series, "Here We Are."
Based in Portland, Oregon, Brooks has worked extensively for Will Vinton Studios, composing the "Claymation" logo theme and scoring the specials Raisins: Sold Out and Claymation Comedy of Horrors Show. Film scores include the 1986 film Shadow Play (with Cloris Leachman). Newton teaches music technology at Portland State University.
