Julia's family was introduced in the 2018 digital storybook, Family Forever: A Julia Storybook, produced as part of Sesame Street's autism initiative, See Amazing in All Children. The family made their first appearance in Muppet form in a series of online videos that premiered in April 2019.
Julia's parents are her father Daniel, who works as an EMT and plays the saxophone, and her mother Elena, an art teacher. Her older brother Samuel is seven years old and plays soccer. The family's pet dog is named Rose.
