Kansas is the 34th state of the United States of America.
- The opening and closing scenes of The Muppets' Wizard of Oz take place in Kansas. Dorothy lives in a Kansas trailer park with her aunt, uncle and pet prawn. Dorothy sings the song "Kansas," about how boring Kansas life is. However, in reality most of the scenes were actually shot in Canada. Two windows and a door from one of the Munchkinland houses, placed within a recreated house, were on display at the OZ Museum in Wamego, Kansas.[1]
- On Farscape, John Crichton uses "Kansas" as a metaphor for returning home to Earth -- a reference to Dorothy's desire to get home to Kansas in The Wizard of Oz. Crichton and his friends visit Earth in a fourth season episode, "Kansas".
