Katz witnessing his livelihood being consumed before his eyes in Don't Eat the Pictures.
Karl Katz (1929-2017) was an art historian, curator and museum director. He served as director for the Israel Museum in Jerusalum, among other roles at other institutions.
In 1980, Katz was head of special projects at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and was connected with Sesame Street writer Tony Geiss, who wished to produce a special at the museum. Katz proposed an Office of Film and Television (which he would become the head of) for the museum to eventually help develop the special, resulting in Don't Eat the Pictures.
Katz is given onscreen credit in the special for his role in the Office of Film and Television, and plays a minor role at the end as the hapless hot dog vendor whose cart is devoured by Cookie Monster.
