Kaufman Astoria Studios, located in the Astoria section of Queens, is where Sesame Street has been taped since 1992. Originally opened in the 1920s as part of Paramount Pictures, its current incarnation has been in business since 1978, when it was reopened to film Sidney Lumet's version of The Wiz. The show was taped on Stage G until Season 38. Not only is the series taped the series at KAS -- it is also where all of the Sesame home videos are taped as well. KAS Music and Sound studio is also located there, which records all of audio needs for the show. Other shows, such as Law and Order, are also filmed here. The Cosby Show and Spin City also used the facilities.
