Ascher Henson Williams

Ascher, Jim Henson, and Paul Williams

Kenneth Ascher (b. 1941) is an American songwriter, musician, and arranger. He wrote lyrics for the 1976 remake of A Star Is Born and arranged music for John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Meat Loaf, among others.

Ascher composed the songs and score of The Muppet Movie with Paul Williams. He performed "Rainbow Connection" with Williams in the 1979 TV special The Muppets Go Hollywood. Previously, two Williams-Ascher songs had been performed on The Muppet Show: "Sad Song" (episode 103, performed by Williams and the Muppets) and "You and Me Against the World" (episode 313, by Helen Reddy and Kermit).

As a keyboardist, Ascher can be heard on the soundtrack to The Muppet Movie, as well as five tracks on the 1977 Bob McGrath solo Sesame Street album Bob Sings!
