Whenever Kermit the Frog is seen at home on Sesame Street, usually only his living room is shown. Kermit is usually at home whenever he has a home service provided, which is mostly whenever Grover comes over as a door-to-door salesman. Oscar the Grouch once installed a Grouch bus stop in the living room.

Originally, the living room was more detailed, with wallpaper and such, but in the 1980s, the walls were a solid green color. Furniture included a red couch and a red chair. In a sketch from 1998, the living room is once again different. This time there are no windows in the room. In Elmo's World: Frogs, the living room had tan wallpaper, a pink lamp, and a brown chair.

Speaking with Gloria Steinem during a ceremony at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Kermit recalls that he used to have a residence on the East Side of Manhattan and a co-op on Sesame Street in Queens, and that he still has a private pad in the lake outside the Central Park boathouse.
