Kermit's Lectures
First Appearance Episode 0434
Broadcast December 21, 1972
Additional Appearances

Grover interrupts Kermit the Frog introducing today's lecture with a slap on the back. He explains that he's going to demonstrate top and bottom, "And as long as you're here, I suppose you would like to help me, is that true?" Grover says he would do anything to help his froggy pal.

Kermit instructs his furry friend to bring over two blocks from off screen, which Grover struggles to carry into frame. While Grover continues to hold the large and heavy cubes, Kermit points out that the block on the bottom is plain, while the block on the top has stripes.

To further illustrate the concept, Kermit asks Grover to add a block with a circle on to the top, and then a fourth block with a star, with Grover still eager to oblige, "For you, Froggy, nobody else. Maybe Herb, but that's all" (referring to Herbert Birdsfoot). With each addition, Grover has continued to strenuously carry the increasingly heavy items for Kermit until he can't possibly hold them any more.

Finally, unable to maintain his composure under the considerable weight of the tower he supports, Grover and his heavy stack collapse with a slow lean that ends in a loud crash. Kermit finds him on the ground, buried under the rubble, and observes that Grover is now on the bottom. The weak and weary monster faints from exhaustion.
