The skit resembles the Saturday Night Live films of Mr. Bill that was on during the late 1970s. Even though it was popular with the kid audience, parents complained about poor Ol' Leroy torturing his fuzzy blue puppet pal with pain and cartoon violence. (One example is an episode where Leroy was acting like a doctor and giving Fuzz a check up. Instead of giving him a thermometer, he sticks a stack of four dynamite sticks in his mouth. Fuzz blows up with his fur fabric burned to shreds... He cries, "Is there a doctor in the house," and falls over.) |
