PERFORMER | Iris Schleuss |
DEBUT | 2010 |
Knuspel is a squirrel who lives in a tree at a park in Hamburg, becoming good friends with Pferd, Wolle and Günni, who all live in a nearby giant carrot house.
Having appeared in episodes of Eine Möhre für Zwei before (namely "Folge 57: Ein eigenes Lied" and "Folge 58: Geräusche in der Nacht"), she received a starring role in the Sesamstrasse spin-off's 2013 TV movie Das Geheimnis der Blumenfabrik, when she faces the loss of her home, making way for a plastic flower factory.
At her park, Knuspel's neighbors are a frog, a crow, and a beaver, all of which are easily chased away by the impending peril. Knuspel forms a special, loving bond with talking toilet Günni, who is instrumental in uncovering the film's villain's secret plans.
The puppet previously appeared as "Squirrel" on Elmo's Backyard, performed by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph. The puppet has also been used in other Sesame Street productions, appearing in a Super Grover 2.0 segment (played by Tyler Bunch), and as Park Ranger Squirrel in a video for the "1, 2, 3 Stay Away Mosquitoes" initiative.
