"Kokomo" is a Beach Boys song that was covered by Kermit the Frog on the 1993 Muppet Beach Party album. A music video was produced to coincide with the album.
In the video, Kermit strums a ukulele on a beach resort setting accompanied by a pair of Whatnot hula dancers. The Swedish Chef appears briefly, battling lobsters, and a slew of characters recycled from previous shows, specials, and movies serve as background atmosphere. Amongst them, Be-Bop performs the steel drums, members of the Inkspots provide chorus and play saxophone, and Coffee Guy is buried in the sand. Other revellers include Harvey, Doris, Duke, Shirley, various pigs, and Laundress. At the climax, Miss Piggy, led out to the resort by Eugene, is aghast to find her frog dancing with hula girls and karate chops him.
The original lyrics "gave me a tropical contact high" are replaced with "under a tropical island sky", in order to keep with the Muppets' family-friendly nature.
The music video was directed by Brian Henson and produced by Ritamarie Peruggi. The video was included on Muppet Sing Alongs: It's Not Easy Being Green and aired on Nickelodeon.
