LOL Elmo is a 2012 Sesame Street plush toy that offers a variation on the Tickle Me Elmo doll, which was first released by Tyco in 1996. On the packaging, the O in "LOL" is decorated with a smiley-face emoticon :-) -- both references to common email and text-message slang.
The Elmo plush doll will laugh at almost any provocation -- tickling his tummy, touching his feet, making a loud sound near him, or squeaking Dorothy's fishbowl squeaker. Elmo giggles and tells jokes -- and as the tickling progresses, the toy rocks back and forth as Elmo becomes helpless with laughter. The toy was produced by Hasbro, under the Playskool label.
